12 Things God Can't Do
by Nick Tucker | Book Summary
Author: Nick Tucker |
Sleep is an act of trust. On the first night in a new place, our brains are more alert than normal, watching for threats. King David, though, slept under the worst of threats because he knew the One watching over him. He knew that he could trust God totally, because, unlike us, God does not sleep. "He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep." (Psa. 121:3-4) When we say there are things that God cannot do, we are exploring His incomparable nature. The more we explore, the more we will recognize God's unparalleled power, wisdom, knowledge, and holiness. "The twelve things God can't do all express aspects of his nature and character which we can embrace with relief, celebrate with joy, worship with awe—and which, I trust, will help us sleep a little better." (p. 20) So, read on, and sleep well! |

Overview:
We often assume that God is like us only bigger. Scripture, though, insists that He is crucially unlike us. For instance, God cannot sleep. He will never take His eye off of us or anything in the universe. He is always wide awake.
