Book Summary of Happiness by Randy Alcorn

Does God want you to be happy? Many Christians find this question odd. God doesn't care about your happiness, He cares about your holiness or your joy, right?

The answer to this question is not as clear as many people think. In fact, God does want you to be happy. He desires your happiness so much that He sent His Son to die on the cross to secure your eternal happiness. Too many Christians walk around morose because they've been taught that this attitude is somehow more pleasing to God. This should not be the case!

The distinction between joy and happiness is unwarranted and unbiblical. The Bible paints a picture of an infinitely happy God who wants His people to share in His happiness. Throughout the Bible, God calls, indeed commands, His people to be happy in Him.

Everyone seeks happiness in something. Whether it be sex, money, power, fame, or any other number of things that can bring delight, mankind has a constant pull towards those things that might make them happy. True happiness, however, can only be found in God Himself.
