Redeeming Productivity
by Reagan Rose | Book Summary
Author: Reagan Rose |
There are two problems with these self-help books. The first problem is that almost all of these self-help books offer a false, unbiblical motivation for personal productivity. The second problem is that most of these self-help books work. The fact that these books really will help you improve your life is the greater danger, because in accepting something that works, many people uncritically and unwittingly accept the false, unbiblical ideas that motivate these authors. "Productivity has been hijacked, and it's time we take it back." (p. 11) Christians not only need to know how to be more productive, they also need to know why productivity matters. "For Christians, why we get more done is just as important as how." (p. 11, emphasis in original). |
Reagan Rose is a Bible teacher who talks and writes about personal productivity from a biblical perspective. At one point, Rose was a self-described video game addict who drifted aimlessly through life. Now he has a better understanding of the call of God on the lives of His people, a call to be good stewards of all that's been entrusted to us.
Rose has a MDiv from The Master's Seminary, and he is an active teacher in his local church. He is married and has two children. Previously, Rose worked as the Director of Digital Platforms at Grace to You, the media ministry of John MacArthur. He also has experience working in software development, marketing, graphic design, news, photography, and videography.

Overview:
A quick pass through the self-help section of your local bookstore will reveal an incredible number of books devoted to topics like productivity, vision and mission, effectiveness and efficiency, meaning and purpose, and personal development. With little variation, these books focus on how you can "get richer, happier, or become more successful if you just learn how to get more done" (p. 11).
