Author: Ainsley Arment |
The solution to this problem, and the way to restore your child's childhood, is homeschooling. Contrary to popular perception, homeschooling is a legitimate and proven way to develop independent, social, intelligent, curious, and successful adults. The Wild + Free homeschooling methodology provides a framework for you to teach your children outside of the national school system. With your love and parental care, you can give your child the freedom to explore their curiosity, connect with nature, fall in love with knowledge and education, and become a fully realized human being — not just a cookie-cutter product of an impersonal and confining education system. Using this method, you can protect children's sense of wonder about the world. Soon enough, your children will no longer be able to distinguish the joy of learning from the joy of life itself. |
Ainsley Arment is the founder of Wild + Free, a community of mothers who are focused on exploring and promoting effective means of homeschooling. She hosts the organization's podcast, also called Wild + Free, and is the co-founder of Wild Explorers Club and the Wild + Free Farm Village.
When she realized that traditional schools were stifling her children's interest in learning, she made the difficult decision to start homeschooling them. Over time, she developed a style and framework for homeschooling that matched her family's needs and then used that experience to build the Wild + Free community.
She and her husband Ben currently are raising five children via the Wild + Free method of homeschooling. They live in Virginia Beach.

Overview:
In the past few centuries, education has become industrialized, inorganic, and oppressive for children all across the world. Current elementary, middle, and high school systems tend to limit students' freedom and creativity. Children are coerced into studying the same few subjects with a rigid curriculum and a strict timeline, all in service of scoring highly on standardized tests or gaining admission into elite universities. In this inflexible and stifling system, children are robbed of their childhood and denied the opportunity to actually love learning rather than view it as a chore.
