The Meaning of Missional
by Dick Wiedenheft | Book Summary
Author: Dick Wiedenheft |
What does it mean to be missional? After all, it is just the word mission turned into an adjective. Does it mean to add more mission programs to your local church? Does it mean foregoing church services and programs in favor of being organic and informal? Maybe it means focusing on going out and bringing more people into our churches or hosting more revivals? Succinctly, being missional means living life on mission as God's people. It's more than programs because it's all-encompassing. It's more than more missions ministry opportunities because it involves every member of the church. It's an entire shift in thinking and being the church. The meaning of missional is that every individual Christian takes ownership of the mission of the gospel in their everyday lives. Being missional is a radical shift! |
