Book Summary of Final Word by John MacArthur

"Without a doubt, the ground Satan most vigorously and continuously attacks these days is the trustworthiness of Scripture—its authority, sufficiency, inerrancy, integrity, and perspicuity." (p. 2)

This strategy is an ancient one. From the beginning, Satan has attacked God's people by attacking God's Word. This is what the serpent did in Eden. The serpent told the first lie in recorded history when he cast doubt on the reliability of God's Word. His question, "Did God say," has continued to echo through the centuries. His declaration, "You will not die," has continued to deceive people through the centuries.

Twenty-first century Christians in the United States are not in a garden facing off against a talking serpent. We are, however, facing the same line of attack. How will we engage in this ancient battle? "We must uphold the standard of God's truth… The truth is under attack, and that very truth is our only weapon in the ancient war." (p. 24)
