by Gordon Fee | Book Summary
Author: Gordon Fee |
The Holy Spirit, the fully divine third person of the Trinity, is the empowering and experienced presence of God Himself. This divine person is key to the application of salvation to the people of God as well as their continued faithfulness. The Spirit acts as the guarantee of the future consummation of God's kingdom while allowing for the salvation of God's people in the present age. God finally dwells permanently with His people in the person of the Spirit. The whole narrative of the Bible has led to this point, and now, by His empowering and gifts, the church can effectively live their lives faithfully to God while expanding the kingdom to include more and more people. |
After teaching at Regent College for 16 years, Gordon D. Fee now has the status of Professor Emeritus of New Testament. Overview:
God the Father and God the Son are relatively easily understood within the church, but knowledge of the work and being of God the Spirit is sorely lacking. Misunderstanding or simply ignoring the Spirit greatly hinders the church's effectiveness and the accuracy of her theology.
